DHZ Pre-Ride Checklist & Engine Procedures
Pre-Ride Bike Check
Before every ride, perform these checks to ensure safety and peak performance:
- Confirm the crankcase breather is clear and not blocked.
- Inspect breather hose at the rear of the engine for blockages.
- Inflate tires to 17-18 PSI.
- Check spokes for looseness; tighten gently with provided spoke tool (avoid overtightening).
- Verify front axle is securely tightened.
- Confirm triple clamp bolts are tight.
- Ensure petrol cap breather is not blocked.
- Adjust front and rear brakes correctly.
- Test brakes for proper function.
- Tighten oil cooler bolts if necessary.
- Check gear shifter bolt is secure.
- Periodically check all engine bolts for tightness.
- Regularly check oil level and spark plug tightness.
- Oil the air filter regularly.
- Adjust rear chain tension.
- Verify exhaust muffler and pipe are secure.
- After 4-5 tanks, get your bike serviced to prevent premature engine failure.
Engine Starting Procedure
- Turn fuel tap to vertical (ON) position.
- Engage choke.
- Slowly press kick starter until firm resistance, then bring it back up and kick firmly once.
- Repeat if needed, avoiding aggressive repeated kicks.
- Let engine warm up for at least 2 minutes before riding.
Engine Run-In Procedure
- Idle engine for 5 minutes, then rest for 30 minutes.
- Take short rides (10-20 min) using ¼ to ½ throttle. Avoid high revs. Rest 30 min between rides.
- Continue for first full tank.
- Service bike after first 4-5 tanks to avoid premature engine wear.
